A methodology for decision support system design in railway capacity evaluation

Résumé

The railway network capacity is an essential indicator for the investment in the infrastructures. Several works was already carried out on the problems of the capacity calculation while following formal or probabilistic methods. However, the tools based on these methods do not correspond exactly to the user's need. Only the experts have knowledge essential to be able to make this calculation. It is necessary to analyze this knowledge and to transform it with the goal of implementation. In the framework of the INFRAFER project, the U method was applied to the problem of the railway capacity calculation. The results obtained were validated, on the one hand by the experts and the other hand by using the simulation module integrated into the INFRAFER decision support system.
