A new approach for the cooperation between human(s) and assistance system(s) : a system based on intentional states

Résumé

In the control rooms of industrial processes, the present tendency consists in assisting the human operator by systems based on Artificial Intelligence techniques. After having suggested a classification of such systems, we envisage the development of a system approach called "Assistant Expert System". This approach consists in integrating the notions of beliefs, commitments and intentions during the plan generation. The beliefs constitute the expert system database. So, according to the commitments, the Assistant´s intentions permit him to act on his external environment. The last part of the paper setss a example of reasoning of such Assistant Expert System connected with a simulated industrial process.
