Caractérisation en dynamique rapide du Ti-6Al-4V obtenu en Fabrication Additive par Faisceau d’Électrons

Abstract : Additive Manufacturing has been used for rapid prototyping of new products during development phase. Nowadays, modern industry is looking forward to involve the additive manufacturing process in production of small and medium series of products. However, some major questions about mechanical characterization of the process are still on the table. In this paper, dynamical behavior of Ti-6Al-4V obtained by EBM (Electron Beam Melting) technology has been investigated. At first, it is showed that the process does not considerably affect the rate sensitivity of the material. Nevertheless, it is appearing that direction in which the sample has been built is an extremely important factor that one must consider. This parameter can increase by 15% the mechanical behavior of the specimen under dynamic loading. An explanation has been found to explain linkage between failure mode and the building direction.
