Caractérisation morphologique de l'usure des freins

Abstract : The aim of this work is to develop a methodology for the characterization of the entire surface of the brake pads. Indeed, the morphology is often characterized on small surfaces. Small in relation to the plate / disc contact surface and in relation to the microstructure (particle size and porosity). Focus variation method was used for the topographic measurement of the entire surface of the brake pad. This method provides, in addition to the topographic file, a high-definition color picture. Surface topography was analyzed at different ranges of scales (Shape, Waviness and Roughness). This decomposition made it possible to highlight the various characteristic elements of the structure of the surface and its wear. Our method is transposable on planar/planar tribological systems (decimetric size).
