Stratégie de modélisation de la séquence cisaillage-laminage en mise en forme à froid des aciers

Abstract : Edge serration defect, also called saw toothed edge condition, are material excrescences that grow during cold rolling of steel coils and is initiated by the edge-trimming process. This research work focuses on these two stages of steel coils manufacturing, in order to understand the phenomena that lead to this defect. Two design of experiments are performed on trimmed edge specimens. The effects of parameters such as strain hardening and part/work-roll contact conditions are studied using the Upsetting Rolling Test (URT). These two design of experiments show that the considered parameters strongly affect the edges behaviour on cracking. Specimens analysis can only be performed a posteriori. Thus, a finite element model of edge- trimming process is built. A strategy of simulation is created in order to model the URT specimens and to transfer the mechanical history from the numerically trimmed edge to the URT specimen model. This new model allows to analyze precisely the edges behaviour during a cold reduction. The finite element models are supplied by a damageable non-associative elastoplastic model, calibrated by 3D Digital Image Correlation (3D-DIC). Several failure criteria are implemented and calibrated; one of them will be selected to simulate material separation in the case of edge-trimming. The results show that the strip/work-roll contact conditions have a major effect on specimens rheology. The conclusions of this work lead to realistic solutions in order to improve the quality of the final product.
