"Etre+participe passé" en tant que marqueur d'aspect et de structure argumentale

Abstract : This dissertation offers a corpus-based analysis of « ‘être’ + past participle » in French. This structure corresponds to the present perfect of an intransitive verb, the passive voice of a transitive verb or the resultant state of a pronominal, intransitive or alternating verb. We put forward a unitary analysis of the structure by defending it is an aspect and argument structure marker. With regard to argument structure, we show that it is an unaccusative structure. With regard to aspect, we show that different «‘être’ + past participle » forms constitute a continuum ranging from adjective to verb. A diachronic analysis provides more evidence concerning the unity of the structure.
