Ecosystème d'innovation et processus info-communicationnels : enjeux du textile dans les Hauts-de-France

Abstract : Numerous studies highlight the role played by the innovation ecosystem (IES) in the development of the phenomenon of innovation. Among these studies, very few explore info-communication processes as such, like "ecological" relationships between system-making protagonists. However, some recent works underline the importance of qualifying the “meaning” that the protagonists give to their innovation context. Through a bottom-up methodology, the originality of this thesis lies in an idiographic approach to a territorial IES. Within a socio-constructivist paradigm, the study mobilised the mediation role of decision processes. The objective was to understand more fully how an IES could clarify the perceived risks that underlie the decisions involved in innovation. Fifteen semi-open interviews were conducted with fashion and textile companies in the French Hauts-deFrance region allowing, the development of a thematic analysis followed by a cluster and factorial analyses inspired by the Repertory Grid method. Using an axiomatic-inductive approach, the work developped a set of hypotheses towards formalising an IES, as perceived by its protagonists. The formalisation of protagonist perceptions can be summarised into key meaningful Repertory Grid “elements” (Framework, Networks, Aspirations, Territory, Infrastructure) taking shape in bivalent repertory grid “attributes” (Trust/Distrust, Enquiry/Disorienting, Feasibility/Contestable, Difference/Banality). The results provided a typology of meaning-making constructs that appeared to govern decision-making processes of protagonistes. The formalisation process provided a better understanding of the info-communication processes at work within an IES, in particular with the explicitation of meaning-making constructs. The work undertaken also provides methodological and operational tools as to how the perception of innovation issues can be perceived. Furthermore, this study highlighted the, often, underestimated role of intangible elements, such as the aspirations of innovators, that would be useful for policy-makers to consider.
