Behaviour of flow dynamics over an asymmetrical deep cavity at high reynolds numbers

Résumé

This paper presents an experimental study, based on the geometry of a cavity, about the flow effects using quantitative particle image velocimetry (PIV) and, local and instantaneous pressure measurements. Three configurations of rectangular deep cavities were investigated: symmetric and asymmetric. The main objective is to detail flow dynamics in cavities between electrical boxes located on the roof of trains. The final objective is to understand the effect of these benchmark cases on the convective heat transfer in order to enhance the efficiency of these boxes.
