Serious game for waste sorting on interactive tabletop with tangible objects: exploratory study

Résumé
In the field of microbiology training, in which contaminated products must be handled and recycled, there are new needs in order to reduce risks and costs. New advances in Tangible interaction and serious game domains can provide solutions to answer these needs. We propose a serious game relating to waste sorting. It is available on a tangible tabletop equipped with RFID technology. The design and realisation using tangibility and gamification concepts are presented. An exploratory study with students in microbiology and experts is described. The first results obtained are promising. They show the potentiality of the approach.
Les avancées dans le domaine de l’interaction tangible et des jeux sérieux permettent d’envisager de nouveaux types de systèmes interactifs pour répondre à de nouveaux besoins. Suite à des besoins exprimés dans le domaine de la formation en microbiologie, domaine dans lequel des produits contaminés doivent être manipulés et reçyclés, un jeu sérieux relatif au tri de déchets a été conçu et réalisé sur table tangible équipée de la technologie RFID. Ses principes combinant tangibilité et gamification sont présentés. Il a fait l’objet d’une première évaluation avec des experts, ainsi qu’avec des étudiants en microbiologie. Les premiers résultats obtenus sont prometteurs, montrant la potentialité de l’approche.
